Waterbed Refinish

Check out our refinished waterbed for our son's new Pottery Barn knockoff sports room.  The waterbed was actually mine from back in the 80's.  It was the old dark brown with the mirror in the middle with red flowers painted on it. 

First, we mixed the paint at Lowe's to match the blue we were looking for. After painting it, we painted the mirror red and attached the white wood letters in his name.  Last, we put new hardware on the drawers to complete the new look.

Our son has severe allergies so we thought that a waterbed might help with that since he wouldn't have a mattress to trap dust mites, etc.  So, we ordered a new heater, liner and waterbed mattress from Ebay.  When I change sheets, I wipe the mattress down with a damp cloth.  He seems to be doing better with his allergies so far.
